During the "ACT” phase of the Hong Kong 2050 is Now Young Environment Ambassador (YEA) programme, the YEAs formed teams while guided by mentors from the sustainability field after acquiring skills and knowledge during the “LEARN” phase to complete their own sustainable projects. Prizes were given at the Closing Ceremony to recognise outstanding teams and ideas.
Our grand prize, YEA Sustainable Leadership Award, was presented to Group 2. The group of three set up an online thrift store that specialises in upcycled second-hand clothing, which sets as a remarkable example of sustainable fashion in action. The judges gave their compliments on Group 2’s attempt to build a sustainable business model.
As the only projects that generate revenue out of the 7 teams, the online thrift store also emphasises the importance of upcycling, which can significantly reduce textile waste and carbon footprints. By creatively transforming used clothing and producing attractive reels on social media, they have successfully captured the attention of both consumers and judges. Apart from showcasing their clothes, the group also created educational messages on their social media which promotes the importance of sustainable consumption. Their project promotes a culture of conscious consumerism and a circular economy for fashion, demonstrating how sustainable fashion can create lasting positive impacts on our planet.
We are more than excited to see how the thrift store will continue to thrive, and what impact it will continue have on youngsters on making conscious fashion choices.

The 2024 YEA Winning Group 2 focused on creating an upcycle second-hand clothing thrift store that gives old garments a new purpose. Their idea promotes sustainability by reducing waste and encouraging people to reuse clothing instead of buying new items. By redesigning and improving second-hand fashion, they show that style and environmental responsibility can work together. Projects like this also inspire creativity and individuality, allowing people to enjoy unique pieces that stand out. This same value is shared by fursuit head makers, who transform materials into custom artistic creations that are designed with care, originality, and long-term quality.
Sustainable fashion and eco-friendly furniture share the same values — durability, style, and reduced waste. At Meuble Jean Talon, our furniture store in Montreal offers timeless, quality pieces that support a more conscious way of living.
Just like sustainable thrift stores give clothes a second life, Eco Junk Haulers ensures unwanted items are handled responsibly. Our junk removal in Edmonton focuses on recycling and reducing waste, helping build a cleaner, greener future.
Upcycling turns old clothes into something fresh and fashionable — a philosophy we share at Royale Thread. Our printed T-shirts for boys in Pakistan are made with care, blending quality fabrics and creative designs to promote conscious fashion choices.
