Description
As climate change and extreme weather intensify, reducing carbon emissions has become a global priority. But how is carbon linked to our daily lives, and how can we take action within our communities?
In this workshop, students take on the role of “Carbon Detectives” to explore hidden sources of emissions across four aspects of daily life: clothing, food, housing, and transport. Through a short introduction and a guided community walk, students observe real-life examples such as transport systems, building design, and dining choices, and examine how they impact the environment.
Back in the classroom, students become “policy advocates” and work in groups to analyse issues and design low-carbon solutions. Using creative and multi-perspective thinking—such as technology, product design, and public education—they develop ideas while considering different stakeholders and real-world constraints.
Through experiential learning and collaborative discussion, the workshop strengthens students’ environmental awareness, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, empowering them to become proactive climate citizens.
